By connecting the Central Securities Depository and Clearing House with Euroclear Bank, Serbia’s dinar-denominated government bond market is gaining a direct link to international investment infrastructure, making domestic government securities more accessible to global investors.
From tomorrow, trading, as well as the clearing and settlement, of five existing (unmatured) dinar-denominated government bonds of the Republic of Serbia will be possible within the Euroclear Bank system, as well as of certain government bonds to be issued in accordance with the relevant issuance decisions.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali said that a historic step had been made in the development and opening of the domestic capital market to international investors.
Mali stressed that, by implementing this project, Serbia is taking an important step from a domestic towards an internationally integrated government securities market.
He explained that, by connecting with Euroclear Bank, the Serbian market is becoming more accessible to the global investment community, precisely at a time when Serbia, on the strength of its credit quality, is entering the group of countries whose government securities can attract investment from an increasingly broad range of international institutional investors.
