Dačić assessed that Serbia has traditionally had good cooperation with this most important international police organisation and that it is among the ten countries in the world that use INTERPOL databases and tools the most.
He also added that Serbia participates in various projects, operational activities and operations in which a large number of persons have been arrested.
Dačić emphasised that Serbia is very interested in opening an INTERPOL Regional Bureau, given that there is no such bureau in this part of the world.
In that sense, Serbia will continue consultations and has already received support from a significant number of countries, and it expects that support to be even greater, he explained.
Urquiza emphasised that Serbia, since joining INTERPOL in 2001, has been an extremely valuable partner to the organisation and noted that in recent years the country has shown commitment to international police cooperation through active operational participation and the exchange of key information.
Criminal networks do not respect state borders, and no country can face this alone. Success depends on trust and partnership, and Serbia has an important role in these activities, he emphasised.
According to him, through close cooperation with INTERPOL and other member states, Serbian police has helped strengthen the joint capability to identify criminal networks and protect communities across the region and beyond.
