Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić visited today, in the Dubovac area of Deliblato Sands, members of the Emergency Situations Sector and other engaged services who, after the fire that affected the areas of Dubovac, Šumarak and surrounding settlements in previous days was brought under control, are continuously monitoring the situation in the field and keeping the fire site under control.

Dačić pointed out the exceptionally difficult and inaccessible terrain of Deliblato Sands, which makes firefighting more difficult for firefighters-rescuers and other engaged services.
As he emphasised, the most important thing is that all houses in Deliblato Sands were protected from the fire and that there were no fatalities, but that the situation in the field continues to be monitored around the clock.
The Deputy Prime Minister specified that the fire is currently not spreading beyond the burned area, which covers approximately between 2,500 and 3,000 hectares.
He also visited the crew of the Emergency Situations Sector’s firefighting and rescue boat on the Danube-Tisa-Danube Canal near Kajtasovo, which, thanks to its own water tank, has also been engaged in providing additional water for firefighting and soaking the terrain.
Speaking about the situation regarding fires across Serbia, Dačić stressed that the number of active fires changes significantly throughout the day due to high temperatures and wind, noting that there were 12 fires in Serbia at around 10:00 this morning, while there are now 32.
