Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović announced today that the United States Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has extended the operating licence for oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) for 30 days, until 20 March.

Đedović Handanović noted that this means NIS can continue to import crude oil, process it at the Refinery in Pančevo and continue to regularly supply the market with oil derivatives.
The Minister said that she would hold talks with the Russian side and that she would travel to Washington, DC, next week, where diplomatic efforts to find a solution regarding the sanctions imposed on NIS will continue.
Negotiations between Gazprom Neft and MOL Group are also continuing, in which Serbia is involved as well. Next week, Serbia will hold intensive discussions on issues that are important for the country in order to improve our position and ensure that in the future we derive the greatest possible benefit from NIS, she underlined.
