Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated today that the approval of the payment of €56.5 million from the Reform and Growth Facility, within the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, confirms the effectiveness of the implementation of reforms in the energy sector.
Đedović Handanović noted that nearly 40% of the approved funds relate to activities in the field of energy sector transformation.
The Minister said that Serbia has been a leader in reforms within the Energy Community over the past three years, assessing that the country has now also confirmed through the Growth Plan its commitment to alignment with European Union policies aimed at improving the energy sector.
As she emphasised, Serbia is the first and, to date, the only country in the Western Balkans to have met the conditions for access to the EU single electricity market despite not being a member, which clearly demonstrates its commitment.
Đedović Handanović specified that the funds from the Growth Plan will be used for further modernisation and improvement of the reliability of the energy system.
