The Prime Minister’s Office continues, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, to monitor the current situation, as new snowfall and freezing rain have been forecast for today.
As a result of the snowfall, a state of emergency has been declared in eight local self-government units, electricity supply has been restored in two municipalities, while parts of Valjevo, Osečina, Šabac, Loznica, Mali Zvornik, Ljubovija, Krupanj, Bor, Kladovo, Negotin, Užice, Kosjerić, Požega and Čajetina, as well as the entire municipality of Majdanpek, are currently without electricity.
Teams from power distribution company Elektrodistribucija are operating on the ground at maximum capacity, repairing faults on transmission lines, substations and the low-voltage network.
Weather conditions have also caused problems with water supply in the territory of the Bor Administrative District, in part of Bor and in five villages.
On state roads of maintenance priority I and II, road surfaces are wet in lower-lying areas, while snow is present in places in a slushy state up to five centimetres thick across the territory of several local self-government units.
Members of the fire and rescue units of the Emergency Situations Sector have carried out 68 interventions due to snowfall to date, involving 167 firefighter-rescuers with 73 vehicles, 19 pumps and three boats.
They have been engaged in removing fallen trees, extinguishing fires, pumping out water and assisting emergency medical teams, and have evacuated 30 people.
