The meeting also discussed activities being implemented within the framework of Serbia’s EU accession process, with particular attention paid to the further alignment of national legislation with the acquis communautaire, strengthening the independence of the judiciary and the public prosecution office, as well as the efficiency and transparency of the judiciary as a whole.
Vujić stressed the commitment of the Ministry of Justice and the Government to continuing the implementation of reform processes in accordance with strategic goals and international obligations, through ongoing cooperation with the institutions of the European Union.
In this regard, he particularly addressed the future analysis of the work of the Public Prosecution Office for Organised Crime, the preparation of which will involve, in addition to relevant domestic institutions and professional associations, the European Union, the Council of Europe, GRECO and others from the outset, as already highlighted and welcomed by the European Commission at the meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Committee.
Ambassador von Beckerath stressed the importance of dialogue and partnership in the field of justice, as well as the European Union’s support for Serbia’s further progress in implementing reforms within the framework of the European integration process.
