Starović pointed out that Serbia and Bulgaria are marking 147 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, and he briefed his interlocutor on the current reforms that our country is implementing on its path to membership in the European Union, as well as the challenges it faces in that process.
He emphasised that Serbia's membership in the EU is a strategic priority for our country, assessing that the support of neighbouring countries is of exceptional importance in the enlargement process.
The interlocutors agreed that peace and stability in the region are key prerequisites for the progress of the entire Western Balkans and a successful process of accession to the EU.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of implementing joint infrastructure projects, such as the completion of the gas interconnector and the modernisation of the road and railway network, which directly contribute to economic development and better connectivity between the two countries.
Starović and Angelov concluded that there is room for further improvement of cooperation in numerous areas of common interest, including security, infrastructure, economy, tourism and culture, for the benefit of the citizens of Serbia and Bulgaria.
