Starović noted that the Government of Serbia is fully committed to the implementation of reforms that will bring concrete benefits to citizens through the strengthening of institutions and the rule of law, as well as the improvement of citizens’ living standards.
The Minister stated that Serbia is diligently working to fulfil the steps set out in the Reform Agenda within the framework of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which is the key instrument of the region’s economic convergence with the EU’s Single Market, while securing tangible benefits for citizens even before accession.
He said that the Operational Team was formed with the idea to efficiently link political decision-making, technical implementation and diplomatic communication.
The government passed the Bill on the establishment and functioning of the cohesion policy management system last week, Starović said, adding that this represents a strategic step towards the EU’s cohesion policy and yet another confirmation that Serbia is preparing to be a credible and successful Union member.
The implementation of the cohesion policy will ensure resources and investments are directed to less-developed areas, with priorities to include infrastructure, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, investment in research and development, improving access to education and healthcare and creating greater employment opportunities.
