Opening the roundtable meeting "Administrative obstacles to investing in Serbia", Serbian Deputy Prime Minister of International Economic Relations Ljubisa Jovanovic said that the Serbian government is resolved to pass new legislation which will secure more favourable environment for foreign investment, because it brings new technology and creates new jobs.
Jovanovic said that the legislation that should be adopted includes the law on value added tax, which will come into effect on June 1, 2005, and the laws on environmental protection, bankruptcy, and enterprises, while the laws on registration of enterprises, and the registration agency have already been adopted.
The Deputy Minister added that the free trade agreements with neighbouring countries will become effective next month. The free trade agreement with Russia has already come into force, and it allows for the goods made in Serbia to be marketed in eastern Europe.
