Support for initiative to open Serbian-language supplementary school in Dublin

Minister of Education Professor Dejan Vuk Stanković, PhD, talked today with Minister of State of the Republic of Ireland Michael Moynihan about the possibilities for improving bilateral and educational cooperation, as well as Serbia's European integration.

At the meeting, which took place in a constructive atmosphere, it was emphasised that there are numerous opportunities for improving educational cooperation, especially in the field of inclusive and higher education.

Stanković informed Moynihan that there is interest and an initiative from the Serbian community in Dublin to open a supplementary school in this city, which was forwarded to the Ministry through the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in London, which is also responsible for Ireland on a non-residential basis.

According to him, in 22 countries, Serbian language classes are held for students of Serbian origin who temporarily or permanently live abroad.

He emphasised that the Ministry is ready to support this initiative and to provide support in the process of establishing this type of classes in Ireland in the next school year.

Stanković reiterated that Serbia is committed to European integration and that he believes that the upcoming Irish presidency of the Council of the European Union will contribute to Serbia's efforts to join the EU.
