Minister of Education Professor Dejan Vuk Stanković, PhD, said today at UNESCO headquarters in Paris that digitalisation and artificial intelligence represent the future of education, noting that the modernisation of this sector remains one of the strategic goals of the Government of Serbia and the relevant ministry.

At the panel on expectations, needs and experiences, held as part of the 6th annual meeting of the Global Education Coalition, Stanković stated that by introducing digital technologies into Serbia’s education system and using them responsibly, the quality of students’ and young people’s digital competences is raised, enabling their competitiveness in the labour market.
The Minister pointed out that 99.5% of schools in Serbia are connected to the internet, with 40% having sufficient bandwidth to support the use of artificial intelligence, while investments in computer equipment continue.
According to him, teachers in Serbia have the opportunity to improve and advance their knowledge through training and lectures using digital tools and artificial intelligence.
As he recalled, the Centre for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Education, at the Faculty of Education, became last year, with the support of the Ministry of Education, the first UNESCO International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) National Centre in Europe.
