Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić expressed deep concern over the latest incursion of the so-called Kosovo police into Serbia’s healthcare institutions in Kosovska Mitrovica.
“This act represents a violation of all international and humanitarian norms, as well as of the agreements regulating relations between Belgrade and Priština. Healthcare institutions in Kosovska Mitrovica are part of the healthcare system of the Republic of Serbia, and the intrusion of the so-called Kosovo police forces is not only illegal but also a new provocative act of Kurti’s regime, which threatens peace and stability in the region.
Such escalatory moves, coming only a few days after the violent and illegal raid of the premises of the State Health Insurance Fund (RFZO) and Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO) Fund, as well as the seizure of the facilities of Serbian postal operator Pošta Srbije in Kosovo and Metohija, are an attempt to violently and unilaterally integrate Serbian institutions into what is called the ‘Kosovo system’, which is completely unacceptable and contrary to the spirit of dialogue leading to the normalisation of relations.
Serbia condemns any form of pressure on the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as all attempts by the Priština authorities to forcibly override the legitimate rights and interests of our people.
We expect the international community, particularly the European Union, as the mediator in the Belgrade-Priština dialogue, to react to this incident, to stop Kurti’s rampage against the Serbs and to preserve the conditions for dialogue, which is the only way to achieve lasting peace,” Đurić stressed.
The Minister called on the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija to remain calm and show restraint, with the message that Serbia will continue to defend the rights of our people in Kosovo and Metohija through all diplomatic and legal mechanisms.
