At a ceremony at the National Theatre in Belgrade, in the presence of a large number of dignitaries and representatives of the Government of Serbia and Republika Srpska, Prime Minister Macut emphasised that the survival and defence of Serbia are non-negotiable, because defending and preserving that freedom is a vow of our ancestors and our human obligation.
The Prime Minister stressed that history has shown that anyone who seeks allies abroad to intervene in the internal affairs of a country does not wish Serbia well.
According to him, Serbia is an old state, people's, democratic and strong, and it will complete its affairs democratically and institutionally.
Brothers and sisters, may the sound of gunfire never again be the voice that wakes us up and calls us to defend our identity and dignity. In the future, when we need peace more than ever before, let us be reminded and admonished by the sounds of dance, music and songs with which we remember our ancestors tonight, their struggle and their sacred sacrifice for our freedom and for our Serbia, Prime Minister Macut said.
The Prime Minister added that the Serbian people must be dedicated to the unification, defence and strengthening of the state.
Our work must be dedicated to the unification, defence and strengthening of the state. Our dreams must be what our ancestors dreamed of, and our faith as strong as those who opened the doors of the homeland with their chests on that glorious 15 September 1918, Prime Minister Macut underlined.
