Energy situation in Serbia fully stable

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, said today, following a session of the Emergency Response Team, that the energy situation in Serbia is fully stable and appealed to citizens to use electricity and water rationally in the coming days.

Macut said that the session of the Emergency Response Team, convened due to high temperatures and the situation with water levels of rivers across the country, focused primarily on energy security, stressing that it is essential to maintain the stability of the energy system, which, as he noted, is fully ensured.

At this moment, he said, there is no need to introduce restrictive measures, but the current circumstances require full responsibility, caution and daily monitoring of the situation.

He stressed that the government is making every effort to ensure that citizens do not experience any difficulties as a result of the low river levels, noting that no measures affecting citizens have been introduced.

The recommendation and appeal to use resources rationally remains in place at this time, the Prime Minister said, adding that all relevant authorities and institutions are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and remain in constant coordination.

According to him, it is particularly important to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of navigation on the Danube and maintain the connection with the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal system, on which public water management companies Srbijavode and Vode Vojvodine are working intensively.

Macut added that the situation is being closely monitored, that all relevant bodies have been assigned specific tasks and that meetings will continue to be held regularly, if necessary even on a daily basis.
