Serbia not to remain silent in face of violence against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija

Belgrade, 12 August 2026

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today condemned in the strongest terms the brutal beating of Nenad Rašković from the village of Dren near Zubin Potok and stressed that violence against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija must stop immediately.

Macut said that he was deeply shocked by the brutality to which Nenad Rašković had been subjected and that there could be no justification for violence against a person or for endangering his life and dignity.

The Prime Minister called on international representatives in Kosovo and Metohija to respond urgently and demand that full responsibility for this case be established.

I expect a clear and unequivocal response from the international community, he noted, adding that violence against Serbs must not become an everyday occurrence to which anyone will turn a blind eye.

As he pointed out, every citizen must have the right to safety, regardless of their nationality, and those who threaten that right must be held accountable.

Macut said that the state of Serbia would continue to stand by its people in Kosovo and Metohija and insist on their safety and the protection of their fundamental human rights.

I wish Nenad Rašković strength and a speedy recovery, and I want to tell his family, as well as all our people in Kosovo and Metohija – Serbia is with you and will not remain silent in the face of violence.
