Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today held a working meeting with Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević, passenger railway company Srbijavoz Acting General Manager Ljubiša Pejičić and his associates during a presentation journey on the new Soko train from Belgrade to Subotica.

Investment in modern railway infrastructure among government’s priorities

Upon arriving in Subotica, Macut, together with Mayor Stevan Bakić, toured the ongoing rehabilitation works on the station building and discussed the pace of project implementation and the remaining activities required to complete the station’s modernisation.
The Prime Minister emphasised that investment in modern railway infrastructure is one of the government’s priorities.
Macut pointed out that billions of euros have been invested in Serbia’s railway infrastructure and rolling stock over the past ten years.
He noted that Serbia has major plans for the transport sector covering all transport corridors in the country – not only the southern route towards Niš, North Macedonia and Greece, but also the restoration of the western route, given that Serbia was traditionally well connected with Europe via the corridor from Athens through Belgrade, Trieste and Milan, and onwards to the rest of Europe.
