Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević held a meeting today with a delegation from China’s Hebei Province, led by the Vice Governor of the province, Jin Hui.
The meeting discussed the results of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China, as well as possible potential investments of Chinese companies in the development of a logistics centre in Serbia, which would represent another concrete implementation of a project within the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Minister underlined the importance of improving rail freight transport along the China-Europe route via Serbia, as well as the possibility for Serbia to become a key hub in this logistics corridor, which will further strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Hebei Province and Serbia.
According to her, investments by Chinese companies such as HBIS, headquartered in Hebei Province, represent a strong pillar of the joint development of the two countries and of projects within the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hebei Province, as one of the most economically powerful regions of China, is characterised by an impressive annual growth rate and significant investments in the development of new technologies and industries, which provides an additional impetus for strengthening and long-term cooperation between Serbia and China, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure said in its statement.
