EU Council of Ministers approves modified mandates for Serbia and Montenegro

The Council of Ministers of the European Union (EU) stated today that it has approved a modified mandate which the European Commission drafted for negotiations on the conclusion of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Serbia, as well as a new mandate for negotiations with Montenegro.
The mandates for negotiations with members of the former state union of Serbia-Montenegro had to be modified after the May referendum in Montenegro and the decision of the Montenegrin parliament to declare independence.
