The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management said today that the comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) entered into force on 1 June, opening up new prospects for Serbian exporters and the domestic agri-industry.

The agreement represents one of Serbia’s most significant foreign trade deals in the past decade, as it allows domestic farmers and the food industry to place their products on one of the strongest and most solvent markets in the Middle East without paying customs duties.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Professor Dragan Glamočić, PhD, assessed that the agreement with the UAE is of strategic importance for Serbia, as it enables export growth, fresh investments and the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries, while also protecting the interests of domestic production.
Glamočić expressed his expectation that the Serbian economy will take full advantage of the new opportunities and begin to reap the benefits of this arrangement in the short term.
