By sectors, production and distribution of electric energy, gas and water in May 2006 rose by 8.2% against May 2005, while the processing industry saw a growth of 12% and ore and stone mining 5%.
Compared to May 2005, this May the production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 12.3%, intermediate products excluding energy went up by 11.6%, energy went up by 6.2%, durable consumer goods by 46.5%, and capital goods by 6.8%.
Industrial production increased in May 2006 against May 2005 in 19 areas making up 84% of total industrial production, but there was also a decline in 10 areas which account for 16% of total industrial production.
Growth in May 2006 in comparison with May 2005 was mostly influenced by the production of elementary metals, foodstuffs and beverages, motor vehicles and trailers, electricity, furniture, tobacco products and chemicals.
The deseasonalised industrial output index for this May against the 2005 average shows a 4% overall rise in industrial growth and a growth of 4% in the processing industry.
The deseasonalised industrial output index for May 2006 against April shows an increase of 1.9% for overall industrial growth and of 0.8% in the processing industry.
The output of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that employ less than 50 workers that are not included in regular statistic surveys is monitored on a sample of 313 SMEs from the processing industry, and in May this year the required data was submitted by 90 companies.
Total industrial production this May against last year’s average monthly output, including SME output figures, rose by 4.5% (excluding these figures it stands at 3.6%) and 9.8% in the processing industry (excluding these figures it is 8.7%).
