UNMIK chief Holkeri resigns

Head of the UN Mission in Kosovo-Metohija (UNMIK) Harri Holkeri resigned today due to ill health.

Holkeri told a press conference in Helsinki that he asked UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan for resignation.
On May 11, the UNMIK chief was admitted to a hospital in Strasbourg for fatigue.
Holkeri was appointed head of the UN civil mission in Kosovo-Matohija last year, and his one-year mandate was to expire in August.
