Ilic told a press conference that he is very pleased that the Prokop station, whose construction began 30 years ago, will be completed by TriGranit, a company that is currently building five other railway stations in Europe, which is a guarantee that the work will be properly done.
Representatives of Zeleznice Srbije, TriGranit and the Serbian government reached agreement on all details, said the Minister adding that it now only remains to conclude negotiations between TriGranit and Belgrade authorities regarding the fee for using public space.
Ilic announced that a tender for granting concessions for the construction, maintenance and utilisation of the Horgos-Pozega motorway will be concluded on August 5. The most renowned international companies in the field of road infrastructure have applied for the tender, he recalled.
According to Ilic, several other valuable investments should be realised by year's end, such as the continuation of works on the ring-road surrounding Belgrade, worth €400 million, as well as the conclusion of the tender for motorway sections Nis-Dimitrovgrad and Leskovac-Macedonian border.
TriGranit executive director Todd Cowen said the general contract envisages that the corporation will complete the railway station and receive 128,000 square metres of office space at the station for its own use.
Cowen said he expects the contract to be signed by end-September when works on the station should begin. The construction works should be completed in two years and construction companies from Serbia should also be engaged, he added.
