Milosavljevic said that reconstruction works will begin soon and that they are expected to be completed by the beggining of next heating season.
The Minister recalled that the reconstruction is part of the project "Energy Efficiency in Serbia" and that it aims to improve energetic efficiency of the Clinical Centre and other hospitals and schools in Serbia. The project is being financed from a World Bank loan worth $21 million.
Following the reconstruction, the Clinical Centre will switch over from heating with heavy fuel oil and coal to natural gas, with the generation of electricity.
Director of the Clinical Centre Vojko Djukic pointed out that by switching over to natural gas, harmful substances in the air around the hospital will be reduced 20 times over.
Manager of the City of Belgrade Bojan Stanojevic said that the Belgrade Assembly will assist the realisation of this project with €500,000 and invest an additional $120,000 for internal installations for introduction of gas within the hospital.
The ministries in charge of the project are the ministries of energy and mining, health, and education and sport.
