In a statement to the news agency Beta, Jocic said that in cooperation with Switzerland and the EU, the concept of police in the service of the community is being implemented in all countries of the region, with the aim that the police become a democratic institution serving all citizens whose rights need to be protected.
The Minister explained that the basic idea of the said project is to create interaction between police and citizens, and added that in Serbia such a model for police work has been implemented since 2003 in several municipalities.
Jocic today held a meeting with the Romanian Minister of Interior Vasile Blaga, with whom he talked on border control.
Considering the fact that Romania is to enter the EU in the very near future, certain decisions were brought on how to administer border control, Jocic stated.
He said that he talked with Blaga on signing an agreement on cooperation between the two ministries, and on the new border crossing at Djerdap, which could be opened as an international border crossing to create easier and faster transport conditions for people and goods.
Special coordinator of the Stability Pact for South East Europe Erhard Busek and Director of the Directorate for the Western Balkans Reinhard Priebe also took part in the regional forum.
