Tanja Miscevic of the EU Integration Office and Therese Sobieski of the European Directorate for Western Balkans copresided the second sectoral meeting, which is the beginning of preparations for the Commission’s annual report on reforms in Serbia expected to be issued in October this year.
Also participating in the meeting were officials from the Ministry of International Economic Relations, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Services as well as representatives of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) and the Serbian Statistics Office. They presented their colleagues from the European Commission administrative capacities for the implementation of regulations in the trade sector, non-customs protection measures as well as an overview of trade statistics.
The meeting also concerned the expansion of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), implementation of European partnership priorities and law enforcement regarding trade policies.
Topics of special interest included industrial policy in Serbia and the policy of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) development, as well as the framework programme for competitiveness and innovation and tourism development in Serbia.
Participants of the meeting will also speak about the implementation of customs regulations in Serbia, regulations concerning the origin of goods and administrative capacities for the enforcement of legal provisions. As for the tax sector, there will be talks about VAT, excise tax, direct taxation and corporate taxation, the statement said.
