Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov said this evening that the Serbian energy industry is fast approaching international standards of development, and it faces the important task of implementing all regulations envisaged by the agreement on the formation of the Energy Community of South East Europe.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 13th Symposium on Management and Telecommunications in Electric Energy Systems at the Omorika Hotel on Mt Tara, Naumov said that by signing the agreement on the formation of the Energy Community of South East Europe, countries of the region have accepted the regulations and legislation of the European Union in this sector.
He announced major international activities for the upcoming week, including a meeting with the European Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs, and with minister of energy from EU countries and the region.
The meeting will conclude on June 2 and will look at a number of issues important for the future of the Serbian electric energy sector, as well as the future work and role of the Serbian Electric Power Industry (EPS) and the Electric Power Network (EMS) in the liberalised electricity market. The issue of forming a regional energy market will also be discussed.
The symposium has been organised by Yugoslav Committee for large power grids (JUKO CIGRE), and patrons are EPS and EMS.
