Speaking at a press conference held following the meeting, Naumov said that the two delegations discussed revitalisation of Djerdap hydroelectric power plant, and construction of the Arad - Mokrin gas pipeline, the pan-European oil pipeline, and the Vrsac - Timisoara 400 kilowatts power transmission line.
He said that the construction of this transmission line would significantly strengthen the energy networks linking the systems in Romania and Serbia, which would create conditions for fulfilling the demand for cross-border circulation of electricity.
According to Naumov, a draft memorandum of understanding is in preparation which will be forwarded to the Romanian side for consideration, and which will also include the issue of linking the Serbian gas pipeline system.
Concerning the gas sector, Naumov pointed out that it is in the interest of both states that the gas systems of Serbia and Romania be connected with a regional gas pipeline Arad - Mokrin. That is why Romanian gas company Transgas and Serbian Srbijagas agreed to draw up a project task for the realisation of this gas pipeline within 30 days.
In addition, the two ministers also agreed to link the two countries' oil pipeline systems and to take joint action in tackling the problem of halts in the construction of the pan-European oil pipeline, Naumov said.
Naumov said that participants in the meeting commended excellent cooperation between Serbia and Romania on the exploitation of power plants Djerdap 1 and 2 during the extremely high water levels of the Danube from March 28 to May 17 this year.
The Romanian Minister of Energy said that the basis of economic stability of each country is a secure supply of electricity, gas and oil derivatives. He added that the cooperation between Serbia and Romania is part of regional cooperation which aims to provide a stable and safe consumer supply of energy products.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the largest energy companies of the two countries.
