Speaking at the roundtable, Vučić said that he expects that Serbia could complete preparations as early as within the next few months and conclude a free trade agreement with Israel, and he invited the Government to accelerate the preparatory work.
According to him, that would be the most effective continuation of today’s meeting, which marked the start of more comprehensive and more responsible cooperation.
In the first seven months of this year, 20% more tourists from Israel were registered in Serbia compared to the same period last year, he said, noting that Air Serbia must accordingly step up its presence at Ben Gurion Airport.
The President added that the majority of Israeli companies operating in Serbia are satisfied with the business environment and seek to continue with their investments, which is great recognition of our work.
Vučić reported that at the meeting with Herzog, issues related to artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies were discussed, and he announced that Serbia will present all its investment subsidies to Israeli companies operating in sectors from retail to start-ups and information and communications technology (ICT).
The President of Israel pointed out that the potential for economic cooperation between the two countries is huge and that the ultimate goal of bilateral relations is the signing of a free trade agreement.
Herzog noted that Serbia has strong economic sectors that could cooperate with Israeli industries, which could encompass cooperation in agriculture, joint investments in the field of high technologies, science, and technology.
Earlier in the day, Vučić welcomes Herzog with the highest state honours outside the Palace of Serbia, including a guard of honour and the playing of the anthems of Israel and Serbia.
