Vučić visited the preparatory works together with head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić, Director General of the Serbian Railway Infrastructure Jelena Tanasković and representatives of the Niš city government.
The project includes works on the northern bypass around the city of Niš, the construction of a single-track electrified railway and the electrification of the Crveni Krst section - connection to the bypass (Pantelej).
The construction of the railway bypass around the city of Niš in a length of about 22 kilometers is planned from the station Niš - Ranžirna to the station Sićevo, in the corridor with the Niš – Dimitrovgrad highway.
The northern railway bypass around Niš includes the construction of a new single-track electrified railway.
The new, single-track, electrified bypass line around Niš, 22 kilometers long, will be equipped for train speeds of up to 120 km per hour.
The Serbian Railway infrastructure signed a contract on the construction of the ring road with the company Extra Auto Transport, as the leading member of the consortium, which also includes Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation.
The value of the contract is Є153.6 million, and the deadline for the execution of the works is 1,035 days.
The EU supports Serbia for the construction of the ring road with Є35 million, while Є80 million have been allocated for the section from Niš to Dimitrovgrad, and the total aid for these two projects is Є115 million.
