Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today that the government sees the economy and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as partners in all segments of the country's development.
At the 8th session of the Assembly of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vučević said that without the economy, there is no development of the state in the fields of education, health, defence, security, and culture.
The task of the government is to create a favourable environment for the economy and to guarantee peace and stability, a predictable business climate, clearly defined rules, the rule of law and as equal conditions as possible, the Prime Minister said.
He emphasised that the government is doing this, given that in May inflation was 4.5 percent, with the assessment that it was not easy to control because the prices of food products and services that enter the basic basket of inflation are still increasing.
As he pointed out, the government of Serbia must, on the one hand, control inflation, and at the same time lower interest rates and the reference interest rate.
The Prime Minister also announced that the government will prepare a broader set of laws that will be presented to the deputies in the Assembly, and invited the Serbian Chamber of Commerce to be a partner in drafting and public discussions on all laws related to the economy.
Vucevic also pointed to the huge advantage that Serbia has due to the fact that it is dominant in regional cooperation, and announced that in July or August the signing of an agreement on free trade with Egypt is expected, with which our country opens the market of the largest Mediterranean country.
The Prime Minister expressed his belief that, despite all the challenges, Serbia will manage to continue the development of the economy and receive an investment rating in the coming period, which is a serious guarantee for further progress.
President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Marko Čadež expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his openness to dialogue with the economy, and emphasised the importance of working together to find the best solutions.
In parallel with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Assembly, the 17th session of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is being held today.
