Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, attended an extraordinary session of the Emergency Response Team, at which reports on fires during June and July in the territory of Serbia were discussed, as well as assessments of the damage caused.
Macut praised the timely and organised reaction of all state services, whose rapid intervention prevented the spread of the fire and the extremely difficult scenario that could have occurred.
We must learn lessons from every such situation – we cannot influence the weather, but we can work more and more strongly on prevention, the Prime Minister emphasised.
Macut recalled that the government has already allocated funds for the repair of the damage and said that the state will continue to act responsibly and in solidarity in protecting citizens and natural resources.
