Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović pointed out after the meeting, which ended the visit to Japan, that our delegation presented the Serbian science and innovation ecosystem, including the start-up ecosystem.
According to her, Minister Takaichi, in addition to economic security, is also responsible for science, the innovation system and the development of the start-up ecosystem, in accordance with which the message was conveyed to her that Serbia wants to cooperate with Japan, primarily in the field of biotechnology and artificial intelligence.
Begović pointed out that Japan is a step ahead of us in terms of the development of innovative economies, primarily the bioeconomy. This is something we want to develop in Serbia, and the idea of the BIO4 campus is precisely to develop the bioeconomy.
She reported that the Japanese minister offered to hand over to Serbia all the material they have generated so far, as well as their new bioeconomy development strategy, which was adopted in that country just a few days ago.
The help, she added, also refers to the offer that Japan helps Serbia in writing its own bioeconomy development strategy.
This is a great start to our cooperation and I am sure that we will formalize it in the short term, which will enable scientific cooperation that will be focused on artificial intelligence, biotechnology and the development of the bioeconomy, concluded the minister.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirović and the Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović.
