The ceremony was also attended by the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Yasushi Hosaka.
Djedovic Handanovic emphasised that from today the energy system of Serbia can boast of a thermal power plant that, according to ecological standards, can be compared with modern thermal power plants anywhere in Europe.
According to her, emissions of sulphur dioxide will be reduced thirty times, and particulate matter emissions will be significantly reduced.
Djedovic Handanovic pointed out that the desulphurization project at TENT A is an important part of bilateral cooperation with Japan, where she expressed her belief that it can be expanded with new initiatives in the future.
Vujovic explained that, thanks to this investment, particulate matter emissions will be reduced to European standards, and the annual emissions of sulphur dioxide, which will be processed into gypsum, will be reduced many times, which is in accordance with the principle of circular economy.
Hosaka said that this project is important for improving the green transition in Serbia and announced continued support for our country on its path to decarbonisation.
Acting general director of EPS Dusan Zivkovic explained that it is a technology of flue gas desulphurisation using a wet process in which lime is used, and the by-product of this process is gypsum, adding that the annual production of gypsum is expected to reach approximately 250,000 tons.
