Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that young people who graduate from secondary school according to the dual model have a significantly higher starting salary than those who attend classical secondary education.
At the Second Annual Conference on Education in the Palace of Serbia, Brnabic stated that the goal of this meeting is to present what the government of Serbia wants to see in the education system, because in the 21st century – the century of science, technology and creativity, without strong education there is no strong country.
The Prime Minister stated that in the Technical School in Valjevo, which is also the Regional Training Centre, 235 students graduated from high school in 2023.
Among them, 71.43% of those who were educated according to the dual model were employed, with an average first gross salary of RSD 108,989, and 26.7% of students who attended the classical form of teaching, with a first gross salary of RSD 71,531, Brnabic specified and added that all this shows how much more chance young people who complete dual education have.
The Prime Minister said that only among students in that school, the salary of students who attended the dual model was 52.36% higher than those who attended the classical model, assessing that these are all data that clearly speak of the success of dual education.
Such facts show that we have to expand the scope of dual education, Brnabic presented and added that all institutions and the President of Serbia insist on strengthening dual education.
She pointed out that, along with dual education, among the most important results achieved in 2023 included the strategic recognition and awarding of primary school students for exceptional results at national and international competitions, as well as the introduction of the National Platform "I Protect You".
According to her, since last year, primary school students have been recognised and rewarded for the first time in Serbia for exceptional results in national and international competitions using the "Generation Competitors" platform, which was launched in December 2023.
The goal is to recognise talents in all fields and at the earliest age in order to nurture them and provide them with adequate support, the Prime Minister said.
She also highlighted as important the National Platform "I Protect You" for the prevention of violence involving children, which unites more than 2,700 state bodies and institutions that act in a coordinated manner on reports.
The Prime Minister congratulated everyone on the school's Saint Sava Day celebration, and expressed satisfaction over the fact that the annual conference on education, which is one of the most important sectors for the future of the country, is an opportunity to be held on that day.
The conference is also an opportunity to present the steps for the future, to trace the path and determine priorities in education, she noted.
The second annual conference on education, organised at the initiative of the Office of the Prime Minister, is being held today in the Palace of Serbia in order to summarise the implemented systemic steps that allow a better overview of the education system, but also to see what needs to be changed.
At the conference, the results of what was done in the last year since the first annual conference were presented.
In addition to Brnabic, Minister of Education Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic and representatives of the Office for Dual Education spoke at the meeting.
