Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević and Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar to discuss the prices of medicines and the supply of the market, one of the most important issues for the functioning of Serbia’s healthcare system.

The meeting concluded that the market is well and stably supplied, which is of key importance for the safety and health of citizens, and that prescription medicines are still among the cheapest in Europe, which confirms the responsible policy of the state.
The Prime Minister also discussed with the line ministers the prices of over-the-counter medicines and supplements, which are significantly higher, and agreement was reached that it is necessary to continue discussions on the possibilities of reducing prices, taking into account the interests of citizens while respecting the companies operating in Serbia’s market.
Macut concluded that the availability of medicines, a stable market and care for the health of citizens remain a common goal and an absolute priority of the Government of Serbia.
