The meeting discussed the role that the State Archives of Serbia plays in the preservation of cultural and historical heritage, as well as ongoing projects aimed at the protection, digitisation and improvement of archival materials.
Particular attention was devoted to the infrastructure capacities and plans for the further development of the Archives, in accordance with contemporary standards.
The interlocutors also discussed the archiving of medical documentation and the possibilities of reducing the burden shouldered by healthcare institutions, since many of them do not have enough space for adequate storage of documentation.
Macut emphasised that the Government of Serbia will continue to provide support to cultural and scientific institutions, with the aim of preserving national treasures and making them accessible to future generations.
During the tour, the Prime Minister was introduced to the most important funds and collections, as well as the challenges that this institution faces in the process of preserving valuable documentary material of national importance.
Perišić expressed his gratitude for the visit and underlined that institutional support is key to further improving work and implementing planned projects.
He also spoke about the possibilities for resolving the problem of lack of space for archiving materials, pointing out that it is important to start designing a new depot building.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Office for Information Technology and eGovernment.
