Preparation of documents to abolish roaming costs in EU for Serbian citizens as soon as possible

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, held an online meeting today with Ambassador and Head of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union and Head of the Operational Team for Serbia’s accession to the EU Danijel Apostolović and representatives of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the Ministry of European Integration, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RATEL) and the General Secretariat of the Government.

Macut discussed with his interlocutors the activities and documents that need to be prepared and sent to the European Commission for implementation of the EU Roam Like at Home (RLAH) regime, the dynamics of the work and the possibilities for accelerating the process of drafting amendments to the law, regulation, rulebook and by-laws, in order to achieve the final result as soon as possible - the abolition of roaming costs for Serbian citizens.

In order to fully comply with EU legal acts in the field of roaming, a Working Group was formed to work on the preparation of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Electronic Communications, the Regulation transposing Regulation (EU) 2022/612 of the European Parliament and of the Council on roaming on public mobile communications networks in the Union, the accompanying rulebooks and other by-laws.
