President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated in Brussels today, after a trilateral meeting of representatives of Belgrade and Pristina with representatives of the European Union (EU) as part of a new round of dialogue, that the talks ended unsuccessfully in terms of finding a clear path towards the normalisation of relations.

Vucic told the press that Serbia was a very constructive, serious and responsible partner to the international community and that Belgrade accepted the EU’s compromise proposal to first talk about the Community of Serb Municipalities, but that Pristina rejected it.
That means to first talk about the Community of Serb Municipalities, to see if there is a credible process or not. If we found that that process is credible and that we are moving towards the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, we would start working in parallel on our obligations. However, the other side did not accept that, he stated.
The President of the Republic added that the situation in the north of Kosovo and Metohija was also discussed and that he raised the issue of illegal expropriation and eviction of Serbs from institutions, and that he reiterated that the normalisation of relations is hindered by daily harassment and arrest of Serbs.
In addition to President Vucic, the meeting in Brussels also featured Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina Albin Kurti, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, as well as EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues Miroslav Lajcak.
