Aim of Pristina’s moves to prevent continuation of dialogue and normalisation of relations

Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic stated today that an all-out war of information is underway, led by Prime Minister of the Pristina Provisional Institutions Albin Kurti and Minister of the Interior Xhelal Sveçla, with the intention to harm the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and to destroy any possibility for the continuation of dialogue and normalisation of relations.

Petkovic stated at an extraordinary press conference, on the occasion of events in Kosovo and Metohija, that a large number of members of Rosu invaded the Kolonija neighbourhood in Zvecan last night.

He said that an hour after that, Sveçla stated that a car with Belgrade license plates and a certain amount of weapons and explosives had been found, accusing Belgrade of being behind plans to carry out terrorist attacks on citizens and institutions of so-called Kosovo.

The Director of the Office pointed out that Sveçla accused Belgrade without any evidence and he is doing this at the moment when the deputy commander of so-called Kosovo Police for the North region is speaking publicly and saying that he is waiting for special teams to come to determine what was found in the car.

You can see that while everyone is waiting for the team, Sveçla comes out prepared with the information that a lot of weapons and some kind of explosives were found in the car, Petkovic emphasised and added that Sveçla is only trying to provoke conflicts in Kosovo and Metohija with his baseless statements.

He pointed out that the Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA), long before last night's action in Zvecan, informed the most important intelligence service in the world that the Pristina authorities were preparing to plant previously seized weapons as a pretext for new arrests and attacks on Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.

Petkovic stated that the registration of the car with registration number BG955JW in which, as Sveçla claims, the weapons were found, expired on 29 July 2020, and that it is a stolen vehicle.

The Director of the Office emphasised that the vehicle has slanted license plates, as if someone had deliberately put them like that, adding that, according to our decree, all Serbian license plates with Latin letters with diacritical marks, as well as the letters Y and W, are excluded from use.

The Director of the Office announced that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will address the public within the next 24 hours with much more information.

According to him, Vucic is holding intensive talks with the military leadership and further decisions will be made according to the development of the situation.
