Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today in Bor the start of the digital skills, literacy and safety caravan "Digital Expedition 2023", during which training for key digital skills is conducted for all citizens, from the youngest to the oldest.
Brnabic pointed out that in the previous seven years the government had done a lot to reform the state administration, pointing out that she is proud of the fact that today the results of hard work are visible.
She stated that since 2016, a lot has been done on the introduction of electronic administration in Serbia in order to make it easier for citizens to perform their daily tasks with the state administration and local self-government.
Today citizens can order a birth certificate, enroll their child in kindergarten or school, pay taxes and view their medical record from their own home.
At the Association of Pensioners in Bor, the Prime Minister spoke with the oldest fellow citizens who are attending part of the training for digital skills.
On that occasion, the Association was presented with a donation - two computers and a multifunctional device, and the same will be provided for all associations of pensioners that the "Digital Expedition" visits.
In addition to trainings for the oldest fellow citizens, trainings for citizens are also held in the building of the National Library in Bor today - training on the protection of personal data, training on the use of eCitizen and familiarisation with electronic services.
The Prime Minister, together with Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic and Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs Nikola Selakovic, talked to citizens about what these trainings mean for them, how and to what extent they use eAdministration services, and how much digital knowledge helps them in their daily activities and in work.
She noted that during the first "Digital Expedition", more than 35,000 citizens were spoken to directly, but that this is not the end and that the digital literacy caravan will visit 10 more cities and municipalities.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the special focus of this second digital caravan will be on senior citizens, pensioners, who can benefit the most from electronic administration.
Brnabic stressed that the intergenerational gap is overcome through these trainings, because the youth office in pensioners' clubs conducts trainings for older fellow citizens, and this creates a new bond from which we as a society have many good things.
Speaking about the economic situation in Bor, the Prime Minister stated that the average salary in that city has increased by as much as 97 percent in less than five years and that in January of this year it was slightly higher than RSD 105,000.
The "Digital Expedition" was launched in 2021 at the initiative of Prime Minister Brnabic. During the first expedition, 16 cities and approximately 35,000 citizens were involved through visits and trainings.
This project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs and the Office for IT and eGovernment, in partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the "New Literacy" programme implemented by "Propulsion" and USAID.
Also, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Protection of Personal Data participated in the creation of trainings on the topic of personal data protection on the Internet.
