Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with representatives of the trade union of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia “EPS-Kolubara”.
Brnabic informed representatives of the "EPS-Kolubara" trade union that at today's session of the government, a proposal was adopted on the approval of the three-year business programme of the Public Enterprise Electric Power Industry of Serbia for the period 2023-2025.
By accepting that proposal, the salaries of the employees of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia will be increased by six percent.
Representatives of the "EPS-Kolubara" trade union described the increase as good news, but also pointed out that it is not a satisfactory solution to the basic demand of the morning protest meeting of "Kolubara" workers, held at "Tamnava-Istok", which is a higher than planned salary increase.
The Prime Minister proposed to continue the talks during the next week, after consultations with the competent ministries.
Brnabic pointed out that the doors of the government of Serbia are always open and that she is always ready to talk with representatives of the "EPS-Kolubara" trade union and the conclusion of the meeting is that the dialogue between the trade union and the government will continue next week.
The Prime Minister underlined that the past year has best shown how important the energy sector is for every country and that its importance, in challenging geopolitical circumstances, will only increase over the years.
She reiterated the state's determination to continue investing in energy, improving production, increasing capacity and, of course, improving working conditions for all workers, but all of this must be solved systematically and according to plan, and not arbitrarily.
Representatives of the "EPS-Kolubara" trade union thanked Prime Minister Brnabic for her time and willingness to listen to them and the problems they face, and both sides expressed their satisfaction that talks in this and similar formats will continue next week.
