Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Dunja Mijatovic.
In an open conversation, good cooperation and the importance of constant communication between the government of Serbia and the Council of Europe on all important topics was highlighted.
Brnabic and Mijatovic discussed the issues of freedom of expression and assembly.
The Prime Minister informed the Commissioner of the Council of Europe about everything that the institutions undertake in cases of endangering the safety of journalists.
The Prime Minister said that threats and physical attacks on journalists are a red line, while Commissioner Dunja Mijatovic highlighted the extreme importance of ending the current court processes in cases of murders of journalists, and above all the case of the murdered journalist Slavko Curuvija.
Brnabic pointed out that she personally and the government of Serbia are committed to constant dialogue with civil society organisations, primarily with the members of the National Convention on the European Union on all topics.
The Ministry of the Interior holds regular meetings with representatives of the Convention regarding the Draft Law on Internal Affairs.
Brnabic and Mijatovic also discussed current issues of human and minority rights, with the assessment that cooperation with civil society organisations and international partners is important for strengthening the entire society.
