Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with members of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) about Serbia’s economic growth, energy and digitalisation as key factors for the country’s economic growth.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the field of information technology saw a great success in the previous year, with a significant share in the GDP, and underlined that the introduction of digitalisation in rural areas is extremely important for our country so that all citizens have access to fast internet.
She said that in this way, migration from smaller towns to big city centres would be stopped.
According to her, in addition to the expansion of science and technology parks in Cacak and Nis, the construction of a new one in Krusevac is also planned.
Brnabic presented the construction of the Bio4 campus, which represents a great step forward for Serbia, pointing out that a stable economy and support for talented young people are the key to sustainability and the country’s progress.
Brnabic thanked the Board of Directors members for recognising the importance of innovation and investment in education, since the EBRD has helped our country in these spheres through several projects.
She also added that Serbia is still in need of the support of this institution, in order to ensure sustainable development and attract new investments.
Members of the EBRD Board of Directors welcomed Serbia's work in the aforementioned activities and assessed that the areas of digitalisation and information technology are key for further investment.
They reminded that the bank is still a significant investor in areas that are important for Serbia’s further economic progress and announced support in the areas of energy efficiency and green economy.
