Prime Minister Ana Brnabic chaired today the Working Group for the systemic solution of air protection issues, where the next steps were agreed upon in order to solve this problem in the shortest possible time.
The Prime Minister was presented with the Air Protection Programme in the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2022 to 2030 with an Action Plan, in which the necessary reduction of emissions in the energy sector, stationary combustion plants, traffic, large industrial plants and agriculture was stated as a basic point.
Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic specified that the total investment costs for the implementation of this program amount to approximately €2.6 billion, while for the implementation of the Action Plan from 2022 to 2026, it is necessary to allocate around €2.1 billion.
The working group concluded that the emphasis must be on the replacement of heating devices wherever possible, especially in the largest and most polluted cities, the expansion of the connection network for district heating, while the Ministry of Public Investments will encourage citizens who do not have such opportunities to heat themselves in less polluting ways because, as was said at the meeting, otherwise it will be more difficult to solve the pollution problem.
Members of the Working Group stated that there are few eco-vehicles and cars with catalytic converters on the city streets and that this number should be increased.
