Brnabic pointed out that education is the key to the success of a society in the 21st century, and added that in the past few years a lot has been done to make the education system better.
The Prime Minister stated that the conference was initiated in order to summarise the systemic things that have been done, which enable a better overview of the education system, but also what needs to be changed and what the problems are.
According to her, in the last six years, with the help of financial partners, primarily the World Bank, a lot has been done when it comes to infrastructure in the education system, including the construction of 4,800 new places in preschool education.
However, we must work on further construction of infrastructure in preschool education because some facilities are fully occupied, she underlined and added that a lot has been invested in equipment for preschool education, as well as in its modernisation.
The biggest progress has been made in primary education, where €60 million have been set aside just for connecting to high-speed wireless internet, Brnabic said, and announced that this project will be completed in 2023, since out of 1,800 school facilities, 1,600 are already connected to wireless internet.
According to her, this made it possible to introduce eGradebook (eDnevnik), which allows parents to track their children's results, as well as easier communication between teaching staff and parents.
Also, as she stated, the Digital World was introduced from the first grade, as well as the Basics of Artificial Intelligence, which makes our country one of the 11 countries in the world that have done it so far.
When it comes to secondary education, she pointed out that the number of specialised IT departments has increased, noting that dual education has been introduced since 2019, which has proven to be a good response to youth unemployment.
When it comes to higher education, Brnabic said that it is planned to start building additional infrastructure, which includes art faculties, recalling that four science parks were opened in the previous seven years.
