Brnabic noted that electronic administration is a way for state bodies and local government organisations to be available to citizens at all times and pointed out that the plan is for 100 percent of Serbian citizens to be covered by broadband internet by 2025.
The Prime Minister explained that it is an investment worth €500 million, half of which will be provided by the state, and the other half by private partners, adding that in cooperation with UNDP, digital literacy of the elderly population is also being worked on.
She reminded that before the establishment of the National Academy for Public Administration, there was no mechanism for the assistance and education of personnel in local self-governments and that for the first time we started to train local officials in a systematic way.
Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Aleksandar Martinovic stated that, according to the data at his disposal, the eAdministration portal is used by more than 1.5 million citizens of Serbia.
Martinovic added that the goal is the professional training of personnel and the modernisation of public administration, and that in that process the National Academy for Public Administration is a reliable partner of the line ministry.
Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic pointed out that after five years and the introduction of an information system that employed 10,000 people and enabled the exchange of five million documents, the public administration is taking a step further towards introducing a modern, electronic office.
Permanent representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Yakup Beris announced that the organisation will continue to help the National Academy for Public Administration, emphasising that next year learning tools on mobile phones will be available.
Ambassador of Sweden in Serbia Annika Ben David said that the modernization and digitization of public administration is the way to transparency in the work of state institutions, expressing particular satisfaction that Sweden participates and supports this project.
Acting Director of the National Academy for Public Administration Dejan Miletic presented Prime Minister Brnabic with the "Honorary Ambassador" award of the National Academy.
