Brnabic underlined that the UN is the most important international organization in the context of preservation if territorial integrity and sovereignty and that the regular examination of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija in the UN Security Council confirms that the situation on the ground is unstable, with frequent incidents and attacks on Serbs and their property.
According to the Prime Minister, timely reactions by the UN are very important, with a clear and unambiguous condemnation of provocations and one-sided acts.
Also, Brnabic reminded Ziadeh that Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija were denied their right to vote, when they were not allowed to cast their votes at the referendum and elections this year.
She voiced expectation that the current political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija will be presented in an objective and transparent way in the Report of the UN Secretary-General on the work of UNMIK at the session of Security Council to be held in October.
Serbia advocates the respect for principles of international law and the application of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and will continue to invest efforts in the preservation of peace and stability, Brnabic said and added that Belgrade is fully committed to dialogue and that it expects at the same time that Pristina fulfils obligations it assumed under the Brussels agreement.
Ziadeh stated that UNMIK will continue to work to achieve a more peaceful and prosperous future through the improvement of respect for human rights and building trust among communities.
She confirmed dedication of UNMIK to support to dialogue which is conducted, under the EU auspices, in order to reach a compromise solution.
The Head of UNMIK especially highlighted the need for dialogue and respect of the agreements reached, which also includes the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.
