Prime Minister Ana Brnabic chaired today the joint session of the Council for Coordination of Activities and Measures for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Growth and the Capital Investment Commission.
On that occasion, the results achieved in the economic areas in the first quarter of 2022 that affect GDP were analysed and the steps that need to be taken to ensure that the results in all sectors by the end of the year were satisfactory.
It was pointed out at the session that GDP amounted to 4.5 percent in the first quarter, and that forecasts for the second quarter are four percent, while inflation is expected to fall in July.
The Prime Minister was informed that the wheat harvest is underway in the field of agriculture, that a slightly lower yield is expected compared to last year due to the long drought, that corn and sunflower are in good condition, and that new markets are being opened for fruit and vegetable exports.
The situation in the field of transport is significantly better and there is an increase in traffic in all segments, especially in the railway. At the same time, water and air transport achieve more significant results compared to the previous period.
In the field of environmental protection, tenders for the construction of the first eight wastewater treatment plants will be announced in early September, which is extremely important for improving the quality of life of citizens.
When it comes to capital investments, the implementation of the most important projects is underway, among which are those in the transport infrastructure, as well as the construction of a gas interconnector with Bulgaria.
