In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Dinkic stressed that the Decree will come into force after it is published in the Official Herald, which means that as of December 5, citizens of Serbia will be able to buy a used imported vehicle regardless of its production date.
Dinkic said he is pleased that the conditions for introducing this Decree have been created in Serbia, as well as the conditions for a complete liberalisation of used vehicle import, and added that the improvement in Serbia’s foreign trade balance has greatly contributed to this. Namely, in the year to November, Serbia increased its export by 35 percent against the same period last year, whereas its import rose by only four percent.
He said that the government has to pay attention to environmental issues, which is to say the reduction of environmental pollution. According to European standards, this means that all imported vehicles must have at least the Euro 3 engine, which is the lowest acceptable standard, thus helping to prevent further air pollution.
